Kollam: A major security violation has been discovered in the managing of the state government website for Medical Insurance for State Employees and Pensioners (MEDISEP).
The nodal officer's login id and password were shared with all the staff of the health department, violating norms.
With everyone getting access, anyone can check the data on the website, make corrections or even delete or alter information. Malayala Manorama was able to independently verify the complaint.
The nodal officer's login credentials were allegedly shared with all the staff to reduce the excess duties of the seniors. Though it was given for registration purposes, it can lead to a serious security breach.
The basic details, including the Aadhaar number, of the staff and their family members can be misused.
Snail's pace for completion of project
Though the deadline for completing the MEDISEP project was June 1, the scheme is yet to begin. The election model code of conduct was the first given reason for the delay. However, it was alleged that flaws in the plan were delaying the project. Procedures, including the registration of the beneficiaries, are just progressing. The staff and pensioners have to pay Rs 250 as monthly premium for the Rs 6-lakh insurance cover during the scheme’s three-year period.
