Kollam: Kathakali maestro and Padmabhushan winner Madavoor Vasudevan Nair passed away at Anchal near here on Tuesday after he collapsed during a performance. He was 87.
He was rushed to a hospital after he collapsed during a Kathakali performance at Agasthyakod Mahadevi Temple, Anchal. However, his life could not be saved.
He is survived by wife Savithri Amma and children Madhu, Mini and Ganga Thampi.
He was honored with several awards, including Kerala Kalamandala Puraskaram, Sangeetha Nataka Academy award and a fellowship from the central government.
