It was Congress president Rahul Gandhi's decision that his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra should enter active politics. Though his mother and former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi initially disagreed, she yielded finally.
Priyanka's entry into politics was confirmed after Rahul’s request to have his sister by his side in the electoral battle for the crucial state of Uttar Pradesh was gladly accepted by her.
Be it politics or fashion, Priyanka is always at her flamboyant best and is often compared to her grandmother Indira Gandhi from whom she is said to have inherited her charisma.
Keeping aside the political drama, let's take a look at the fashion statement that creates a halo of charm around her.
Bollywood star John Abraham once said Priyanka was his ideal beauty. Be it an elegant saree or a chic shirt with a pair of trousers, Priyanka is adept at carrying both with equal finesse.
Her style statements reminds us of late Prime minister Indira, who too flaunted crisp handloom sarees with elan. Priyanka's dressing also draws a parallel to her mother Sonia who too embraced the Gandhian looms with pride. Khadi on Priyanka voices her innate confidence and modest charm.
Holding the principle of Gandhian thoughts true to heart, the traditionally handwoven 'Khadi' seems to have taken up a prominent place in the wardrobe choice of the family. Politically, representing self reliance, simplicity, and hard work, the choice not only is a fashion statement but also the voice of her inner self and her political motif.
Priyanka is often spotted in sarees and monochrome long-sleeve blouse, and the 'pallu' mostly falling on her arms. She also loves to flaunt tucked-in shirts, trousers , casual jeans and T-shirt. She also makes it a point to keep her choices simple, the colour combinations subtle and the drape classy. The carefree yet neat drape is bang on.
Not just the costume, Priyanka is also careful about her no-makeup look. A clean bob, and a spotless face lit up with a hearty smile is all that she flaunts. She says a big no-no to accessories and only wears a single stone earring. Sometimes, she is also seen adorning the simplest of neck piece, a black thread.
In her 40s Priynaka, a mother of two, doesn't hesitate to go uber cool in jeans and T-shirts.
