Wish my dad were alive: Geetu Mohandas on Moothon premiere at TIFF

Geetu Mohandas’s Moothon (The Elder One) was premiered at the 44th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in the heritage Winter Garden theatre on Wednesday night.

Geetu, along with producer Anurag Kashyap and actors Nivin Pauly, Rosshan Matthew, Sobhita Dhulipala and Sanjana Dipu attended the event.

Geetu, then took to her social media page and penned an emotional note wishing that her father was alive to watch his daughter's movie. "20 years back my dad brought me to Canada in hopes and anticipation for a better tomorrow for his daughter with big dreams. I wish he was alive to watch my world premiere of #Moothon last night. It was magical, emotional and powerful for all of us. Thank You, Universe!" (sic.)

Geetu's father passed away back in 2015.

After starting her career as an actor, Geetu made her first directorial stint with a short film titled 'Kelkkunnundo' in 2009. Later, she directed a full length feature film 'Liar's Dice'. The movie was India's Official Entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 87th Academy Awards.

Geetu is married to cinematographer Rajeev Ravi.
