'Queen' hero Dhruvan is out of 'Mamankam'

Dhruvan, the tall hero of the outgoing year's campus thriller 'Queen,' has been excluded from the under-production magnum opus 'Mamankam,' which is tipped as megastar Mammotty's biggest project ever.

“I've no complaints, no grievances,” said Dhruvan, who had sacrificed several offers to stayed focused on developing his physique for the film set against the background of 11th-century warriors.

Dhruvan said the production controller of the film called him a few days back to tell him he is being excluded. “I don't know the reason,” he told manoramanews.com. “I never asked him why.”

The film recreates the story of the warriors who had set forth to eliminate the Zamorin, the powerful ruler of Malabar, and fought valiantly at the risk of their own lives.

The young actor had been undergoing a course in the Kerala martial art Kalaripayattu and had worked regularly at the gym to develop his physique like that of the legendary warriors.

The project is a dream director Sajeev Pillai has been nursing for years.

“I had taken a great effort for my role in Mamankam,” Dhruvan said. “I was running from the gym to the kalari back, non-stop. Mammokka and Sajeev had supported me a lot. My biggest disappointment is that I lost a chance to perform with Mammookka. It was a great opportunity. My effort of an year has gone waste.”
