Baburaj is an actor who has thrown up surprises intermittently with exceptional performance in some of the contemporary Malayalam films. The actor celebrating 25 years in Malayalam cinema is all set to appear in a lead role in the upcoming movie titled 'Koodasha,' the directorial debut of young film-maker Dinu Thomas.
The shooting of the film, which pitches on a subject that has steep social relevance, has been almost complete. "Except for a few scenes including a fight sequence, the shooting is almost over," says actor Baburaj.
As to why the actor remained unseen for a while in Malayalam cinema, he says, "I was in fact busy with a couple of Tamil films and also wanted to take a break from the hackneyed theme of comedy, which I had been doing in Malayalam for quite sometime now."
The actor appeared in a striking role in Vikram-starrer 'Sketch' released early this year and is currently busy with another Tamil flick starring Siddharth.
However, the actor is very much excited about 'Koodasha'. "It is a thriller brilliantly made by Dinu. I was so awed by the script that it is the first movie I am doing without accepting remuneration," says the 'Salt and Pepper' actor.
The film stars actress Krittika Pradeep (Mohanlal-fame) as the daughter of the protagonist named Kalookkaran Joy. Actors Saikumar, Joy Mathew and Devan among others also appear in prominent roles in the movie.
Faizal V Khalid has cranked the camera while Akash Joseph Verghese handles editing. The music has been composed by Vishnu Mohan Sithara and the lyrics are penned by Harinarayanan BK. The film, produced by Omar and Riyaz under the banner of OMR group, is slated to hit the screens on August 17.
