Young superstar Prithviraj has recently launched his own production house, Prithviraj Productions, along with his wife Supriya Menon. The actor had said his new venture was for the younger generation.
Now, Prithviraj has taken a step forward and announced his production company would be collaborating with the international film production giant, Sony Pictures.
The official announcement comes a week after the Vimanam actor had met with Vivek Krishnani, MD of Sony Pictures India. Prithviraj said he had told Vivek Krishnani that the Malayalam movie industry was the right platform for Sony Pictures to venture into parallel cinema other than bankrolling entertainment movies.
Vivek too had told the actor that he would be interested in making a move into the local cinema industries if there are good scripts.
“I had a script at hand which I clearly knew would be the very first venture of Prithviraj Productions. I reached Mumbai, described the movie and presented the project plan. That day itself both the companies signed the partnership contract,” said Prithviraj.
He added that the partnership with Sony Pictures which had produced blockbuster Hollywood movies like Spiderman, 2012 and Jumanji, and had recently bankrolled the super hit Akshay Kumar-starrer Padman in Bollywood would definitely bring about a significant change in the Malayalam movie industry as well.
