Kollam: A woman has been stabbed to death in her house by a man who reportedly had an affair with her daughter whom he had met on the Facebook. The accused, Sateesh from Madurai, is in the custody of Kulathupuzha police.

The victim has been identified as Marykutty Varghese, wife of expatriate P K Varghese of Paravila Puthenveedu of ESM Colony, Kulathupuzha. The police say Sateesh was keen on marrying Marykutty's daughter Lissa, who works as a nurse in Mumbai. Lissa had told him her family was arranging another marriage for her, and had cut off ties with him for over a month.

Sateesh engaged an online taxi from Madurai and arrived in Kulathupuzha hoping that Lissa will be home. However, she wasn't there. He told Marykutty about his interest in marrying Lissa. The police stated Sateesh stabbed Marykutty as a quarrel ensued.

Sateesh had entered the house on the pretext of delivering a parcel. Marykutty was alone at home since Varghese is in the Gulf and younger daughter Linsa is in Bengaluru for higher studies. The woman, who suffered a deep stab wound on the right side of her chest, ran out of the house, bleeding profusely and fell down on the road.

Local people rushed her to a private hospital and later to a hospital in Anchal, but she succumbed to her injuries.

Sateesh, who tried to flee, was caught by local people and handed over to the police. Taxi driver Chithiraselvam from Madurai is also in police custody.
