Charummoodu, Alappuzha: A gritty housewife saved two people who lay bleeding on a busy road after an accident, even as a crowd of men stood watching passively. Pradeep and Prakash from Edappon were seriously injured in a car-scooter collision near the Iranikkudy bridge on the Pandalam-Mavelikkara road and were lying unattended.

A crowd of onlookers had gathered but no one bothered to do anything to save the lives of the young men. Geetha Santosh, 44, then came along driving her car after dropping the son of a relative to school. She stopped the car as she noticed the crowd and found the men bleeding profusely.

Geetha rushed them to hospital without anybody's help and notified the families of the victims. Prakash has now been admitted to the Kottayam Medical College Hospital, while Pradeep is under care at a private hospital in Edappon.

Geetha, wife of S Santosh of 'Sangeetha' in Edappon, was in Saudi Arabia with her husband and had settled in Edappon eight months ago. Her children Sangeetha and Sangeeth are in Class 10 and 8 respectively.
