Ashrrita Chinchankar is happy and excited that she piloted the farewell flight of her mother Pooja, who served as an air hostess in Air India for 38 years. The young pilot had made Pooja's retirement day special by making her mother's dreams come true.
The world came to know about this 'special' retirement party when Ashrrita tweeted a lovely message for her mother along with a picture of Pooja standing with other crew members. Sharing the picture, Ashrrita tweeted, “So happy and honoured to be able to pilot the one flight that mattered. It was my mom's dream to have me pilot her last flight as an Air Hostess with @airindiain :) As she retires after her glorious 38 years of service, I will be carrying on with her legacy.”
She also shared a video of her mother's farewell.
The passengers learnt about this incredible flight from the words of flight captain Paresh Nerurkar. Many of them even gave Pooja emotional farewell greetings as well.
Pooja says that Air India had just two women pilots when she joined as a cabin crew in 1980. She adds that she had then decided that if she had a daughter, she would make her a pilot. It has only been two years since Ashrrita joined Air India as a pilot. Though Ashrrita is excited that she was able to fulfil her mother’s dreams, she is a little sad that she won’t be able to hear Pooja's voice in the cockpit any more.
