Kozhikode: Kerala men's team thrashed Railways while the women went down fighting to Railways in their respective finals of the 66th National Volleyball Championships here on Wednesday.
Kerala men retained the title as they came from behind to beat Railways 24–26, 25–23, 25–19, 25–21. It was their sixth National Volleyball title. In the semis, the men's team beat Tamil Nadu in straight sets 25–22, 30–28, 25–22.
Meanwhile, Railways women's team won 25-21, 26-28, 21-25, 25-18, 15-12 to clinch the title for the tenth successive time while Kerala ended runners-up for the tenth year on the trot.
Railways won the opening set 25-21. But the hosts fought back to clinch a thrilling second set 28-26 much to the delight of the packed home crowd. Kerala bagged the third set 25-21. However, Railways bounced back by winning the fourth 25-18 to take the final into a decider.
Railways won a tight final set 15-12 to wrap up the tie.
