Mohali: When Mahendra Singh Dhoni was gearing up to go out and bat in the middle during the Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium on Sunday, his daughter Ziva suddenly wanted to hug her father and insisted that he called from the dugout.
Taking to Instagram, Dhoni posted the video which read: “When Ziva wanted to give a hug to papa during the match.”
Regarded as one of the greatest finishers in limited-overs cricket, Dhoni almost pulled off an improbable run chase before CSK lost the game by 4 runs against KXIP.
Chasing a mammoth 198 for victory, Dhoni struck his career-best T20 score and even hit a six off the last ball of the match but Chennai still fell short of the target, managing to reach 193 for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs.
After the match, Dhoni was seen with his daughter Ziva, who was all smiles after her dad's heroic innings.
She had been an ardent supporter of CSK and is often seen in the stands with her mother Sakshi cheering together for the franchise.
