Dharamasala: Kerala defeated Tripura by four wickets to post their first win in the Vijay Hazare Trophy one-day championship here on Sunday.
Rohan Prem top-scored with 52, while Mohammed Azharuddeen hit an unbeaten 47 (35b, 8x4) as Kerala overhauled the victory target of 232 with almost five overs to spare. Kerala had tied with Bengal in their opening fixture before suffering a last-ball loss at the hands of hosts Himachal Pradesh.
Kerala have six points from three matches and are in fifth spot in the seven-team Group B. They next meet Delhi on Tuesday.
Earlier, pacer M D Nidheesh picked up 3/29 as Kerala restricted Tripura to 231/9 after opting to bowl. Captain M B Mura Singh made 61 while Rajat Dey (46), Shyam Gan (35) and Smit Patel (33) too shone with the bat.
Opener Vishnu Vinod (40) and Rohan added 72 runs for the second wicket to put Kerala on track. Sanju Samson (37) and skipper Sachin Baby (26) too played cameos before Azharuddeen guided them home in the company of Vinod Kumar (12 not out). The two added 42 runs for the unfinished seventh wicket.
