Indian cricket star M S Dhoni’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir has generated plenty of interest across the country. Dhoni, who is an honorary Lt Colonel in the army, was the chief guest of an army-sponsored cricket tournament in the Valley. Now, a video has emerged where the ex-Indian captain was greeted by the people present with chants of ‘Boom, Boom Afridi’, in reference to former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi.
Though the security personnel at the venue tried to push the crowd back, they kept chanting Afridi's name. Afridi, who retired from international cricket last year, enjoys tremendous popularity in Pakistan.
During the cricket tournament at Kunzer, 35 kms from Srinagar, Dhoni had said, “An India-Pakistan cricket series is much more than just sport. It’s not a simple decision. It’s a diplomatic as well as political decision. It’s best left to the government to take a call.”
