No to crackers, yes to birds
Several villages in Tamil Nadu decided to avoid Diwali crackers and loud speakers to ensure birds and bats are not disturbed in their natural habitat. For a long time, people of Koothankulam village in Tirunelveli district, which has a bird sanctuary, have avoided bursting firecrackers during the festival. Key Indian equity markets will hold a special "Muhurat" trading session to mark the start of the Hindu New Year on Thursday. The annual one-hour session will be held between 6.30 pm. and 7.30 pm. It is held every year on account of Diwali Laxmi Pujan. The session is considered to be auspicious for stock market trading.
