Young woman killed, dismembered; body parts dumped across Mangaluru

Mangaluru: In a gruesome incident, a young woman was murdered, dismembered and her body parts dumped at a few places in this southern port city of Karnataka. The victim was identified as Sreemathy Shetty, 35, of Amar Alva Road, Attavar. She was the owner of an electrical appliance service centre at Attavar.

While her head and some parts of the body were found at Kadri, other parts were seen near Nandi Gudda cremation ground. However, her feet and remaining parts are yet to be traced.

The woman's decapitated head was inside a helmet and other body parts were found in a sack, which was dumped in front of a shop at Kadri. When the shopkeeper arrived to open his business in the morning, he noticed the sack and informed the police.

Police officers inspected the surrounding area and saw the woman’s head inside a helmet.

Sreemathy was a native of Mogaru, Polali, in Mangalore Tehsil of Dakshina Kannada district.

According to the police, personal enmity was likely behind the murder.
