Kaduthuruthi: Come April, Ayamkudi can boast of an agricultural theme park.
N.K. Kurian and wife Lathika are all set for the inauguration of their long-time project that promises to offer an experience in agriculture-related information and entertainment. The NRI couple has designed the park in accordance with his philosophy favouring eco-friendly measures to earn money and provide entertainment.
The park on 20 acres will be inaugurated on April 23. It has 4,500 types of plants, including rare Ayurveda medicines and fruits. This park is a storehouse of the 700 types of trees found in Kerala. About 1,900 of the 2,150 medicinal plants grow here.
The farm has a zodiac junction with the trees associated with each star sign. It even has a tea plantation.
The Eden Garden contains rare and exotic fruit trees.
The four ponds, with a total area of about four and a half acres, contain 39 types of fish, crabs and clams. Pearlspots, red snappers, sharks and shrimps are cultivated in the ponds. There is an aquarium with exotic varieties of fish.
Chinese nets have been set up for harvesting the fish.
A ropeway, bullock cart, tonga, e-rickshaw, golf cart and cycles are available to roam around the park. Those who want to venture into the ponds can avail of the pedal boat, water cycle and e-boat. House boats and speed boats area available for going on a ride to the canals that connect the farm to the lake.
The boats are powered by solar and wind energy. About 10,000 watts electricity is produced from solar panels.
The farm has cottages to accommodate tourists.
