Kerala woman testifies on priest's alleged rape

Kayamkulam/ Pathanamthitta/ Karukachal: A woman who accused a priest of the Orthodox church of rape has given a secret testimony before the Kayamkulam First-Class Judicial Magistrate.

Kayamkulam police had filed a case against Fr Binu George, who has been accused of raping the woman in the church office, where she was summoned to settle a family dispute.

The police said the priest, who is at the Perinad Ashram at Ranni , will be arrested soon.

According to the woman's complaint, the crime occurred when Fr. Binu was the vicar at the Koipalli Karayma parish under the Mavelikkara diocese in 2014. The priest called her in to settle a dispute she had with her husband, it says.

The woman was subjected to a medical check.
