Alappuzha: A passenger who had booked tickets in a KSRTC Scania bus on Vishu eve had a pleasant surprise. When the bus he was scheduled to travel got delayed, KSRTC authorities not only expressed their apologies but also arranged seats in another bus.
Vimal, belonging to Alappuzha, received the apology from the KSRTC control room. He had booked three seats in the Coimbatore - Thiruvananthapuram Scania bus from Palakkad to Alappuzha. The bus was scheduled to leave Palakkad at 10.50 pm. Vimal reached the Palakkad bus stand by 10 pm on Saturday. Around 10.30 pm, he realised that his bus would be arriving at least four hours late. When he took up the matter with the station master, Vimal was told that no other buses would be plying to Alappuzha at that time.
Vimal then called up the KSRTC control room and informed it about his predicament. He also contacted Jayakrishnan, a KSRTC ‘admirer.’ Jayakrishnan passed on the information to KSRTC executive director G Anil Kumar, who enquired about the matter with the control room. Vimal received the call from the control room soon.
Though he had to wait for around two hours, the Palakkad station master arranged three seats for Vimal in the Bengaluru – Salem – Thiruvananthapuram Scania bus which reached Palakkad at 12.45 am. Vimal reached Alappuzha by 4 am, which was just an hour late than the arrival time of the bus he had initially booked.
