Kochi: A major fire broke out at a doll-making unit at Eloor in Ernakulam in the wee hours of Friday. No casualties have been reported so far.
Prompt intervention by the rescue personnel averted a major mishap as they could take out five gas cylinders and stock of raw materials from the hazard site. They even managed to stop the fire from spreading to the nearby warehouses at the industrial zone located at Edayar.
Though the fire has been successfully put out, smoke is still rising from the damaged unit.
It is said nylon, which is used as raw material in the unit, caught fire.
Morning walkers spotted the fire initially and alerted the authorities.
Further details are awaited.
