Alappuzha: All the exam centers in Kerala for the entrance test to institutes under the All-India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) were taken in a matter of 36 hours.
There are no more seats available for the AIIMS medical entrance test in Kerala. Now, the remaining students will get exam centers allotted outside the state. The process of accepting applications started on Monday morning, and by 11 am on Tuesday, allotment to all the seats in exam centers across the state was over.
Because of this, many applicants have got their exam centers in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. There have been demands of allowing more exam centers in Kerala.
In Kerala, 20,063 applicants were allotted seats in exam centers in 12 districts. With 3,618 seats, Thrissur is the biggest exam center in the state. Thiruvananthapuram has 3,527 seats and Ernakulam 3,200. Wayanad and Pathanamthitta districts have no exam centers.
March 5 is the last date to submit applications. Traveling to other states to appear for the exam will turn out to be an expensive affair for most students.
