Thiruvananthapuram: Even as CPM Kerala chief's son remains stranded in Dubai after being slapped with a travel ban in cheque bounce case, the party mouthpiece has come out defending Binoy Kodiyeri.
“Those expecting to gain something from the Binoy Kodiyeri scandal will meet with disappointment," claims Deshabimani, the CPM mouthpiece.
'How does the CPM and the state party secretary become involved in this? NRI Malayalis who come back often fall into such traps. But there are some who are attributing more importance to this than it deserves with dreams of finishing off the CPM and the Left government. Among those are people from the party headed by Rahul Gandhi, who himself is fighting charges for illegally acquiring the National Herald newspaper.
Binoy's case is personally motivated. It's not a case of fraud or deception. These are problems faced by any NRI doing business. There are no allegations of profiteering through unfair means or doing anything against the law. Money was borrowed for business purposes under proper, legal channels. However, it could not be returned by the fixed date. There is no running away from it either.'
