Kochi: The police have recovered cloth pieces from the skeleton of a woman found embedded in concrete inside a barrel in Kumbalam backwaters. Pieces of a 'night gown' and inner wear have been found. This will be subjected to forensic examination. It has also been found that a screw was fixed on to her left shin to fix bone damage.

The police stumbled upon this skeleton as part of another probe wherein a man's body was found in the Nettor backwaters two months ago. The woman's skeleton is estimated to be more than one year old.

The police are investigating both cases separately but do not rule out a possible link. They also say it is possible that both are from outside the state. Investigation about the barrel used to hide the body has been extended to Alappuzha and Kottayam districts too, the head of the probe team said.

The team may be contacted on: 94979 87105.
