Thiruvananthapuram: PWD minister G Sudhakaran posted a live video on Facebook wherein he addresses members of the public and resolves their complaints in an hour-and-half phone-in program.
The minister patiently listened to the grievances and suggestions of people who called in from different parts of the state, and ordered probes in deserving cases instantly. The department hosted the program through a toll-free number and the minister invited public participation through his Facebook post which carried the live video.
“You may file your complaints directly (to the minister.) Dial our toll-free number 1800-425-7771 to raise your complaints regarding any road under PWD,” said the minister, in his Facebook post. The minister directed officers to look into land encroachments, disputes in land acquisition and road maintenance.
The minister listened to complaints and took time to explain the legal and administrative aspects of each issue to the petitioner. He contacted section heads, engineers and officials on spot and ascertained the situation.
The live video evoked a good response on Facebook. Comments and suggestions flooded in as the video went viral. The minister said he would hold more such programmes.
