Actress attack case: police approach court seeking media gag The charge sheet, submitted to the court on Wednesday, levels several serious charges against Dileep and other accused.

The Kerala police have approached the court seeking a gag order on the media over the actress attack case charge sheet.

The names of witnesses cropping up in media reports might influence their stance, the police said. The cops have approached the court under section 327(3) of the CrPC. The move comes after the actress attack case charge sheet was widely discussed in the media even before it was submitted to the court.

The charge sheet, submitted to the court on Wednesday, levels several serious charges against Dileep and other accused.

The probe team has listed eight reasons that prompted Dileep to commit the crime. Dileep wanted to wreak vengeance after his first marriage with Manju Warrier ended in a divorce. He presumed that the actress had a role in the marital discord and conspired to attack her, the charge sheet said.

The police retraced the run-up to the abduction and harassment of the actress after interrogating about 15 people close to Dileep or prime accused Pulsar Suni.

The prosecution case is that Dileep had a grudge against the victim actress. He gave a quotation to Suni for Rs 1.5 crore and gave an advance of Rs 10, 000. After this, Suni attacked the victim mercilessly on February 17, 2017. The police arrested seven people in connection with the crime. Dileep was arrested on July 10, for allegedly hiring goons to assault the actress and videotape the harassment. Dileep was let out on bail on October 3 by the Kerala High Court after spending 85 days in prison.
