Perumbavoor: The father of slain law student Jisha was found dead here on Thursday. The body of Pappu, who was undergoing medical treatment for a while, was found on a road near his house at noon.

Pappu, who was living alone at his house, had suffered injuries in an accident recently. He was a lottery vendor.

He was the 92nd witness in the case relating to the rape and murder of his daughter.

Though Jisha's mother Rajeswari and sister Deepa had got financial aid from the government, Pappu had not got any share as he was living separately.

Pappu had sought further probe into the murder of Jisha. A witness in the case relating to the rape and murder of the Dalit student was found dead at his house on July 29. P M Sabu, 38, was questioned during the initial stage of the probe into the case.

The trial in the Jisha murder case is in the final stage with the trial court completing cross examination of the accused, Ameerul Islam.

The defense lawyer will submit the list of witnesses on the accused's side shortly. Jisha was found murdered at her house near Vattolippadi, Perumbavoor, on April 28, 2016.
