Kochi: Hours after an eye witness made crucial revelations on the recent attack on an Uber taxi driver here by three women, visuals substantiating the claims have surfaced.

The footage aired by Manorama News on Saturday shows the women brutally assaulting the driver in front of the public.

The women can be seen holding on the driver's neck, pushing and dragging him even after some onlookers tried to stop them.

The footage disproves the women's claim that they haven't assaulted the man.

A complaint filed by Shefeeq, the taxi driver, said that the women hailing from Kannur, assaulted him around Wednesday noon near Vyttila.

Shefeeq said that the women had booked his cab using the mobile app-enabled Uber pool facility which allows passengers boarding from different locations book the same car heading to the same destination and share the fare.

The irate women got into an altercation with the driver after they saw another passenger, Shinoj, in the vehicle. When the driver refused to yield to demand of the women that the other passenger already traveling in the car be deboarded, they resorted to violence, the complaint said.

The women were arrested after recording the statement of the cab driver. They were later released on bail, the police said.

The women were allegedly slapped with minor charges.
