Now, a shout-out for Dileep, all the way from Dubai Over the past few days, many prominent faces from the film industry have been flocking to the Aluva sub jail, where the actor has been lodged since his arrest on July 10. PTI

Dubai: It seems to be raining support for actor Dileep, who was jailed for allegedly plotting the February 17 actress attack. However, this time the supporting voice for the embattled actor has come all the way from Dubai.

A WhatsApp community based in Dubai, Voice of Humanity, has come forward alleging that Dileep was trapped after a conspiracy hatched by a clout of people in the business, political and film fraternity.

"A CBI probe should be held to ascertain the truth," the members of the community told in a press meet here Wednesday. They also said that they would write to prime minister Narendra Modi and president Ram Nath Kovind for the actor.

However, they pointed out that the actor should indeed be punished if he was guilty. They also explained that the press meet was not called at the behest of anyone and that it was the 'love and admiration for the actor' that made them do it.

Over the past few days, many prominent faces from the film industry have been flocking to the Aluva sub jail, where the actor has been lodged since his arrest on July 10.

The first major visit was by wife and actress Kavya Madhavan, and daughter Meenakshi on September 2. Friend Nadhirshah had also visited the actor in jail on the same day. Jayaram had visited Dileep in the jail and gifted 'Onakkodi'. Actor-turned-legislator Ganesh Kumar, who visited Dileep at the jail, later spoke to media in support of the actor.

The police have claimed that the conspiracy to abduct and assault the actress in a moving car on February 17 as well as videotape the crime was hatched by Dileep.

The actor's bail plea was thrice rejected by various courts. However, the actor performed his father's death anniversary rituals at his residence in Aluva after the Angamaly court granted him a two-hour break from the jail.
