The front tyre of the bus was completely damaged. After hitting the boundary, the bus stood perched on the the edge overlooking a 1,000 feet gorge.

On Friday, the bus which had left Wayanad at 6.15 am had reached Thodupuza two hours late. Since the bus had to make the return journey immediately it is said that the driver did not get time for rest amid the two long-trips.
