Govt Law College Ernakulam launches 'Excellency club'

Students' Union 2018-19 of the Government Law College, Ernakulam launched a 'Excellency Club' at the Central Assembly Hall of the college. The function was formally inaugurated by Abhilash Mohanan, chief sub-editor of the Reporter TV Channel.

As the name suggests, the club aims at ensuring excellence of students in the academic arena, especially in the law-related activities like moot courts, research paper presentations, trial advocacy, alternate dispute resolution (ADR), client counselling, and judgment writing.

The initial program launched was the 'Weekly Compilation.' It is an attempt to compile world legal news, competitions and part-time job opportunities on a weekly basis and send it to all students of the college in pdf format through mail or WhatsApp.

The second phase of Bhagat Singh Study Circle was also inaugurated on the same day October 12th, 2018. Bhagat Singh Study Circle was a novel initiative of the 2016-17 Students' Union. It is a platform for the students to discuss contemporary matters happening around the world with prominent personalities. As part of the inauguration of its second phase, an open forum was held wherein Abhilash Mohanan and the students discussed and exchanged their opinions on the 'Entry of women in Sabarimala.'

The conveners of the Bhagat Singh study circle Mohanakrishnan N and Gopikrishnan R, convener of the Excellency club Nayab Naseer, and assistant professor Dileep spoke at the function. The conveners also assured to conduct weekly lectures and discussions on important legal affairs and concepts.
