Meet Oommen Chandy from ‘Canada’

We associate the name Oommen Chandy with Kerala's Chief Minister. And, yes not many people in the world are called Oommen Chandy. Much less the chance for a look-alike, or that is what Vinod John, a former reporter of Malayala Manorama, thought. Till he met a man who looked like Oommen Chandy in far away Canada.

This man had a long nose, white hair and was about the same height as the Chief Minister. The only difference was that he was not sporting the traditional 'khadar' and the spectacles. This photo became viral after it was posted on Facebook. Since the photo was taken unexpectedly, more details about this guy is unknown. But yes, we believe his name is not going to be Oommen Chandy

Here is what Vinod John has to tell about Chandy's look-alike.

'This picture was taken from London, which is located at South-western Ontario in Canada. While driving through a small road this person caught my attention. He was out on a casual stroll, and looked just like Oommen Chandy, who is the Chief Minister of Kerala. But the car had already passed by his side. I just did not want to leave without clicking a picture of him.

So, I drove back in the opposite direction and waited for some time. I clicked a picture of him walking from a distance. Then, I wanted a close-up shot of him. I doubt if he got a glance of the camera that I was holding. When he approached, he looked at me suspiciously. I did not want him to get annoyed. So, I clicked one more picture in a hurry, hence the pictures are not clear. I kept on clicking his pictures even after he passed by me. He looked back at me and then I did not wait there for a long time. I do not know anything more about this person.

After that, says Vinod John, he showed the pictures to his wife Nisha, who said the there was a striking resemblance to the Chief Minister. Vinod says, 'I showed her the pictures and asked her if there is any resemblance to someone we know. Usually, our choices of look-alikes never match. But after seeing this picture, pat came the reply, “He looks just like Oommen Chandy”.

I was excited when she said that. I showed the picture to my kids as well. It did not take much time for my elder daughter to say that the guy in the picture looked like Oommen Chandy. And that is when I decided to post this on Facebook," he says.
