Vashnavi Poovanedran knows as Navi Indran Pillai on Instagram had always dreamt of acing the bridal look from the time she was a little girl. But then cancer struck robbing Navi of her confidence. The treatments that followed took away her hair, which she considered as one's crowing glory.

But Navi's story is that of winning it all back through a photo shoot titled 'Bold Indian Bride' to spread the message of grit and determination among cancer survivors. The pictures have created ripples on Instagram.

“Having cancer has stripped some of us from fulfilling these dreams. A lot of cancer survivors have postponed or even cancelled their big day,” Navi, who is a Malaysian of Indian origin, posted on Instagram.

But giving up was not in Navi's forte. She chased her dreams and realised them with the love and support of her near and dear ones.

She wrote, “...Having gone through cancer treatments (chemotherapy, etc.), losing my hair was by far the hardest thing I ever had to go through. I felt that I was not beautiful enough to be loved and was not beautiful enough to look or ever feel like a bride. Hair, it is our 'crowning glory' and having that taken away from you is devastating. But we choose to accept what we have, appreciate what we are and welcome what is coming. So here it is, 'Bold Indian Bride'.

Navi also acknowledges her gratitude and love for the the crew who stood by her and helped her materialise her dream.

“A huge thank you to the team. You guys made my dream come true. Not only I looked like a bride, I felt like a bride and it was all thanks to the wonderful team for bringing it to life. I am so grateful to have met such wonderful people. I am extremely blessed for the amount of love and support I have received,” she wrote.
