Cherpu: A treat to onlookers and the best way to beat the summer heat, mighty tusker Kodumon Deepu is a regular visitor to the Karuvannoor river, near Arattupuzha temple, in Thrissur.
Even though elephants generally are reluctant to come out of rivers after long dips, Deepu is a tad different. He steps out of the water at the first call of the mahout.
A dip in the river is a must for Deepu whenever he travels this way. Even though the mahouts scrub and clean him well, he uses his trunk to clean his ears and eyes himself.
Elephant lovers are aplenty at this spot to watch him enjoy the shower.
