Where roof is the star! Kunnel house

The most attractive feature of the 'Kunnel' house is no doubt its special roofing. Placed in three different levels, one after the other, the unique roof makes this one storey, 3 BHK house stand out.

After doing ordinary concrete, a steel truss was added over this to lay the roof tiles. This area under the roof can be used for storage purposes or for drying out laundry. The front portion of the house has been given two 'Mukhapu'. The gate and 'Mukhapu' were built in a different way by painting GI square pipes with wood coloured paint.

A sit-out, living cum dining area, three bedrooms, kitchen and work area are the major rooms in the house. The kitchen is towards the front part of the house and right behind the sit-out. The main door is placed facing the east, and at the left side of the sit-out. A separate area for the stairs has been demarcated; if the need for extra rooms and a second level arises in the future. This stair room is covered up quite well.

The house was completed in March 2015 and the construction costs came up to Rs1500 per square feet. The 10 cent plot’s location is on the road side and this made the construction easier.
