Visitors awed by this dream house in Kallai on a 4 cents plot

The exteriors of the house feature the stylish plain box style.

Spatial constraints and budget limits are two major challenges that are faced by the common man when it comes to building a house in Kerala. Younus’ brand new house at the beautiful countryside of Kallai in Kozhikode stands out for its amazing features that easily overcome space constraints. The family says that people often refuse to believe their dream abode, which has all the modern facilities, actually stands on a meagre 4 cents plot.

The exteriors feature the stylish plain box style. Show walls and claddings in minimal style add to the charm of the elevation. Windows and slits are installed on the wall to ensure excellent cross ventilation and abundant supply of natural light. The front yard is paved with natural stones. The sliding gate which has designer panelling on it helps save space as well.

This beautiful house, designed in 1971 sq ft area, has a sit-out, formal and family living areas, kitchen and a work area, four bedrooms, upper living space, patio and a balcony.

The interiors are arranged in the semi-open style to overcome the spatial constraints. The living – dining spaces are part of the open hall. Meanwhile, the sliding door acts as a partition between the dining space and the patio.

Just because the house has been built on a smaller plot, the interiors do not lack designer decor or eye-catching furnishing. The Arabic calligraphy crafted in multi wood and the unique wallpaper are the highlights of the interiors.

Vitrified tiles are paved on the floor in the common areas. Meanwhile, the handrails of the stairway feature the elegant combination of steel and mahogany wood.

Unique and interesting ideas in furnishing make the interiors chic and elegant. For instance, the dining table, built in the shape of a gigantic tree trunk, is quite eye-catching. A combination of Indian timber irul and suryakanti woods has been used for this. One could get into the patio from the dining space. Glass roofing has been installed here. The growing creeper vines add a hint of pleasant greenery.

The kitchen cabinets are in the multi-wood and acrylic finish. Meanwhile, granite is paved on the counter top.

All the bedrooms are bath-attached and have cupboards built in plywood – veneer finish.

This scintillating house proves that space or budget restrictions are no barriers if there is good planning and interesting designs.
