The images of this majestic edifice have been doing the rounds on the social media especially on pages related to homes, architecture and decor. It was in January this year that Anish and Roshna, both natives of Chathamangalam in Kozhikode, celebrated the house warming ceremony of their dream home. A picture of the house was then posted on the social media by the designer. Within hours, the post became viral with more people enquiring about the house and its impressive features. The family, meanwhile, is overwhelmed by the attention that their brand new house has been garnering.

“I and my wife are bank employees. We had loads of dreams about the house that we desired to build. We entrusted the construction of our house to my sister’s husband Sajeendran Kommeri. I wasn’t really stressed as everything was managed by my brother – in – law. He understood our dreams and aspirations better than we could imagine,” says Aneesh.

The plot that lies around 3 feet below the road level had posed a challenge. This was raised by dumping 600 loads of soil and then levelling it. The elevation of the house features a stylish box style structure. Laterite stones and natural stone claddings add the perfect highlight to the exteriors that don the serene white colour. Some portions of the plot are still not evenly levelled. The show walls in laterite stones do not make the house appear shorter. The side windows on the elevation ensure excellent cross ventilation inside the house.

This spectacular mansion, designed in 3000 sq ft area, has a car porch, formal and family living areas, dining space, courtyard, open kitchen with an adjacent work area, upper living area, balcony, an open terrace and five bedrooms as well. The family wanted the interiors to be designed in the open style so that the interiors would look vast and spacious.

Vitrified tiles, in lighter shades, were paved on the floor in most rooms. Meanwhile, wooden tiles are used in the formal living area, dining space and the courtyard to highlight these areas. The windows and the doors are built using teak wood.

A shoe rack-cum-sitting space has been arranged in the sit-out. An outer courtyard welcomes you into the house. The custom-made furniture perfectly goes with the unique theme of the house.

The roof above the stair area is in double height. The skylight here lets lots of natural sunlight into the interiors. The family living area and the adjacent courtyard are arranged just beneath the stairway. The handrails of the stairway feature the classic combination of teak wood and toughened glass.

The stairway leads to a spacious hall where a hanging cot is the highlight. From here, one could get into the balcony and the open terrace. Planter boxes are here to grow indoor plants that add a hint of greenery.

The open kitchen allows easy communication with the dining area. The kitchen cupboards are made in multi-wood with paint finish. Nano white is paved on the counter top. An adjacent work area completes the kitchen unit.

One among the five bedrooms has been turned into a study room. The rest of the bedrooms are bath-attached. Besides, there are two other common bathrooms as well. The concealed wardrobes make the rooms look incredibly vaster.

The structure is built by leaving enough space for a front yard. Natural stones and buffalo grass are paved in alternate layers to decorate the front yard. Besides, lots of shading trees too are planted to make the landscape incredible. The laterite stone cladding design on the exterior walls of the house is continued on the boundary wall as well. Anish says that the family is extremely proud of their scintillating house which they have named ‘Devadeyam’.
