Suresh Kammath’s brand new house stands elegantly on a 13 cents plot in Vytila in Kochi, Kerala. Though close to the Vytila junction, the bustle of the city doesn’t affect the serene premises of this plot. The exteriors of this house feature some unique and eye-catching designs that instantly draw one's attention.
The family wanted a contemporary style house with abundant supply of natural light and air in the interiors. Architect Sujith K Nadesh is happy and proud that he could design a stylish house catering to the likes and demands of the family members. The exteriors are designed to suit the structure of the rectangular plot. The contemporary style elevation that features some amazing square-shaped designs and the stunning landscape make this house a major landmark of this locality.
It is the beautiful pooja room that attracts the attention as soon as one enters the house. The rustic charm of the laterite stones is the highlight of the pooja room. The living and the dining areas, stair area and the pooja space are designed in the vertical pattern. A quaint courtyard has been arranged below the stairway.
The interiors are designed in the open style by avoiding unnecessary walls and partitions. This plays a major role in filling the spaces with positive energy.
Door-cum-windows line the wall that faces the east direction in the dining area. Besides bringing in the amazing sunshine and cool breeze, these windows allow beautiful views of the spectacular nature outside as well.
The stairway dons the classy elegance of the teak wood. Besides welcoming light and air into the house, the pergolas also act as design elements.
Balconies are arranged in all the five bedrooms on both the floors. There is a family living area and a utility space in the upper storey. Besides, there is a courtyard in the upper floor as well.
The fine blend of Turkish marble and tiles, used for flooring, adds a luxurious look to the interiors. The classy charm of teak wood make the ceiling stands out. The beautiful nuances of traditional architecture lend a mesmerizing feel to the interiors.
Black granite is paved on the counter top in the kitchen. Meanwhile, the shutters of the kitchen cabinets are made using marine ply with veneer finish.
The family is elated that they got the house of their dreams, by creatively making use of the unique rectangular shape of the plot.
