This majestic dwelling at Moozhikkal in Kozhikode, Kerala hardly looks like it has been renovated. Its grand structure and elegantly charming interiors give any brand new house a run for their money.
The owner, Fauseer, decided to give his old house a scintillating facelift as the structure didn’t have much height and natural light shied away from entering the house. Fauseer has entrusted architects Shabeer and Saleel Kumar of the Shabeer – Saleel Associates, based in Kozhikode, to give his house a luxurious look with all the modern facilities.
Fouseer’s palatial house stands on a sprawling 32 acres of land in Moozhikkal. The elevation of the house is designed in the semi-contemporary style. A combination of flat and slop roof add to the overall charm of the exteriors. Imported terracotta tiles enhance the elegance of the roof. Pristine white hue dominates the exteriors.
The creepers that spread on the roof add a perfect contrast of green against the white. Planter boxes are arranged around the structure to grow lush green plants and shrubs. The elegance of Kadappa cobble stones, paved on the front yard, goes amazingly well with the mesmerizing design of the exteriors. Planter boxes with lush greenery line the outer wall of the well. The gazebo is made with aluminum which has wooden prints on it. It is the elegance and pleasant look of a water body, on the sit-out, which welcomes the guests into the house.
There is a sit-out, formal and family living areas, upper living area, dining space, kitchen, pantry, work area, servant’s room and five bedrooms in this beautiful house which has an area of 6500 sq ft. There are two sit-outs, one adjacent to the formal living area and the other close to the car porch from where one can directly enter the house. This sit-out, with a water body, is where the family members love to gather.
The formal living area boasts of luxury and classy elegance which is the highlight of the interiors.
The widows with tempered glass panes let in pleasant sunshine in abundance. The open deck adjacent to the living area stands out for its wooden flooring. The beautiful view of the water body and the lush green garden could be enjoyed from here. Wooden panelling is used to cover parts of the old structure. The grand chandelier is the highlight of the dining area.
The open deck and the room of Fauseer’s daughter designed in the theme of a bridal chamber are a couple of most attractive features of this house. It is the incomparable elegance of the classic furniture which makes this bedroom exquisite and unique. All the five bedrooms are designed in unique themes. The cupboards, cots and ceiling are made of gypsum plywood finish.
The modular island kitchen has lots of storage spaces. The cabinets in coloured glass finish add a chic look to the spacious kitchen. Korean granite is paved on the counter top.
