It was the layout of the 6 cents plot which proved to be the biggest challenge for Kakkadi native Hareesh, a businessman, when he decided to build a house. The family was skeptical whether their dream dwelling could be made on such a small plot like this. They were nonetheless willing to compromise on any of the modern facilities, good ventilation and ample supply of natural light as well.
However, architect Sandeep Kollarkandi, who is also Hareesh’s friend was able to design an elegant house which perfectly suited the dreams and demands of the family.
The 2000 sqft house is designed in the contemporary style and has a car porch, sit out, living space, dining area, kitchen, 3 bedrooms and a beautiful balcony. White color theme dominates both the exteriors and interiors of the house. Claddings in light grey add the perfect contrast in the elevation of the house. Katni marble, paved on the main areas, gives a regal look to the interiors. Shabad stone is used in the car porch and the front courtyard is made beautiful by paving natural stones.
The main door opens to the elegant formal living area. The pooja room is adjacent to this and it is highlighted using brown wall paper. Spaces are wisely utilized in this house. Lights in different tones are installed on the gypsum false ceiling. The lights in profile, cove and warm tones enhances the pleasant look of the house.
The jali partition between the living space and the dining area act as a designer element as well. The TV unit is arranged on one side of this and a crockery shelf on the other side. The furniture was purchased by the family members by giving preference to style and comfort. The doors and windows, made using the wood of jackfruit tree, were polished with paint finish.
A door from the dining area leads to the charming patio which is the perfect place to enjoy some amazing moments. A wall here highlighted using exposed brick cladding and a vertical garden. An elegant combination of stainless steel and glass is used on the hand railings of the stair way. The dining – stair area designed in double height make the interiors look vast and spacious.
Each bedroom is designed uniquely and has given importance to storage spaces as well. Head boards highlighted using contrasting wall papers enhance the stylish look of the bedrooms.
The cupboards in kitchen are done in marine ply and mica finish. Nano white is paved on the counter top. An elegant breakfast counter completes the kitchen.
Besides the beautiful balcony, there are open terraces in the front and back of the house. The elegant theme and design of the house is continued on the boundary wall and the gate as well. Hareesh, who is thrilled about his brand new stylish house, says that the space constraints can be easily overcome by designing your dream home wisely and effectively.
