Believe it or not a furniture paradise exists in a two kilometer radius of Thrissur town in God's Own Country.

Chevoor in Thrissur district of Kerala is a hub of  furniture trade in South India. Chevoor, with a two-century-old history in furniture trade, has nearly 300 furniture manufacturing units in a two-kilometer radius.

Chevoor's finesse in manufacture of furniture also has a historical connect – it manufactured furniture on a  large scale and provided it to the Indian army during World War II. Furniture of optimum quality manufactured with near perfection available at affordable prices is Chevoor's unique selling proposition. Perhaps, that is why it is known as the furniture paradise of Kerala, a well-deserved tag bestowed by aficionados.

After a lull, furniture trade has boomed again in the last four decades, with 2,000 carpenters working 24X7 in about 300 manufacturing units. Chevoor's obsession with furniture business has also spawned an affiliate industry – There are nearly 1,00-0 saw mills that feed the business. And there are 200 furniture show rooms.
