Kochi: For Seematti CEO Beena Kannan, there is no perfect gift for a woman better than wonder in six yards. Yes, it is a saree, into which you can weave all the beauty of a women. And at the Beena Kannan Bridal show 2016 event that took place on Saturday at the Gokulam Park Convention Center, Ernakulam she showed the world that she was right!

Scintillating models walking the ramp was breathtakingly beautiful. The show stoppers of the event were Actress Sonali Bendre, Swetha Menon, and Neha Saxena. The show featured a wide range of latest collections from Seematti, exquisite Kalamkari paintings woven into precious Kancheevarams, stunning bridal gowns in special shades, traditional silk sarees with rare motifs and colored zardosi blouses.

Talking about Indian handlooms, CEO of Seematti Beena kannan said: “India was rich in its handloom heritage right from time immemorial. May be even before the Victorian era, India was making muslin, the thin silk, light and airy, meters of which could be folded into a matchbox. We were exporting muslin all over the world which we do still today and should be really proud about”.

Speaking at the venue, she said that designing is all about creativity, but now a days each and everyone is turning creative with clear ideas on what you want to wear, which is why every customer is a guru to her. A proud entrepreneur, Beena Kannan said that, at Seematti they weave what we tell them. She also observed that even fat is turning beautiful and her customers are happy even if they are little plump.

“The color in trend for the coming year’: is a prediction which Seematti makes every year at their bridal show. This time too, Beena Kannan and her team have made their forecast. And it is Burgundy in trend for the coming year. Navy blue and shades of pastel will also be in trend, she hinted.

Kalamkari, a type of special painting, from Kalahasti in Andhra Pradesh woven into traditional kancheevarams is the greatest credit of Seematti this year. This exclusive weave were the painting is woven directly into silk is the first time in the history of kancheevarams. Each sections of kali, or pleats in the long north Indian skirts are now available in exclusive kancheevaram designs.

The Beena Kannan Bridal show revered top weavers from across the country. Rajkumar from K V Kumar Silks, Santhanakrishanan, Purushothaman, and Gomathy from Shri Santhnakrishnan silks pvt ltd, E Selvan from E Selvan silks and sarees, Gopi from Durgai Amman silks, D Balaji and D Lakshmipathy from Santhanalakshmi silk house, Bhaskar from Shreeram sarees, J Jagdishan from Om Shakti silks were among them.

A twist to the whole fashion gala, Kicha , the 6-year-old little chef from India bagged the love of the entire crowd. He was gifted the ‘pride of India’, award at the event. Grammy award winner Manoj George’s performance on violin was unbelievable.

Traditional peacock motifs, brilliant gowns in pastel pinks, the gorgeous beige bridal saree, the peacock green wedding gown, kalamkari paintings in silk, the adorable pleated skirts, 3D lehengas, name it all, and Seematti is ready with it.
