International footwear brand Nike is going ‘green’, literally, as it has announced the launch of sneakers with a turf like covering. Nike has created the Air Max 1 Golf 'Grass' for this year's PGA Tour.

It is a special edition of the iconic Air Max 1 sneaker. The shoes feature artificial grass or fuzzy green turf resembling a golf course placed on white midsole and gum rubber outsole with golf-ready traction. The Nike logo (the Swoosh) is featured on its sides.

Photos of the ‘grass shoes’ are now trending and it's being said that the sneakers are ideal for use on golf course and are hailed for the excellence in their design.

Twitter has been abuzz with mixed thoughts on the shoes since the launch of the Air Max 1 Golf Grass was announced.

Fans are certain that the sneakers will create big waves in the market.

Nike hasn't set a release date for the shoes which will cost USD 140. The shoes will be made available in select retailers in the US and on Nike's website.
