There’s no cocoa in Cocociti, nor is it a city! But here, you can make a wish come true. Yes, simple wishes like longing to watch the latest release even when you don’t have a dime in your holes-riddled pocket.
No joke this. If you are one lucky bloke or a plucky dame, you might see yourself munching popcorn and watching the latest flick in Lulu PVR cinemas, provided you have the good sense to join Cocociti. Well, if you are wondering how, here’s your answer.
Cocociti, the latest entrant in the multifarious social networking platform, is a start-up website by two Thrissur-based youngsters viz., Jithin Raj and T. Dheeraj.
While popular social media websites pander to, and thrive on the ego and ‘current’ status of their members, Cocociti views things differently. It piggybacks on the ‘wishes’ of its members.
Once you sign in and list out your wishes, the website bunches you into a particular group where you can find people who share the same wishlist. Now, you are free to interact with the members in your group and find ways and means to get your wishes fulfilled. Even if wishes don’t materialize immediately, you can seek advice from members.
Want to freak out on food, watch sunset from a beach or just enjoy the simple joys of life? Cocociti has options where you can share your ‘Momentary Wishes’. On the contrary, if you are dreaming to buy an Audi or take a trip to Vegas, you have an option to list those out as well - ‘Future Wishes’.
The website, which was put up a year ago, has over a thousand members. As an introductory offer, you get a rupee in your bank account the minute you join the site and if others click on your likes, you land a rupee each in your account! Now you know how you get to watch a movie with an empty purse.
How did it all begin?
Jithin and Dheeraj were together in school right from Class six. Though too young then for the wide wide world of the web, the duo met again after Dheeraj completed his engineering and Jithin, his management studies. Both chucked their jobs with multinationals for their dream start-up.
They first ventured into the virtual world by introducing an online rental business where folks could hire out household stuff and things, which others would badly need. Later, they fixed their focus on social networking.
Going about the business
Seed funding is the only source of sustenance they see for the first two years. They hope to take it a few steps further later on with ads and product suggestions supplementing the venture.
Cocociti also has plans afoot to trace your location and guide you to the best digital store or the eatery, which serves the yummiest food on the basis of your wishlist.
A “hyperlocal” facility is also being developed and it will enable a member to link up with those those who share the same wishes, big or small.
