Palakkad: Heartbroken on hearing the Supreme Court verdict that quashed death sentence for Govindachamy, Soumya's mother Sumathi blamed the prosecution for not properly presenting the evidence to the apex court.
"I am devastated to hear the SC order," an emotional Sumathi told reporters.
A tearful Sumathi also slammed the Kerala government and the prosecutor for failing to produce evidence that Govindachamy committed the murder.
'I will go to any extent to get justice for my daughter," Sumathi said, adding that she will meet chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Setting aside the death sentence, a three-member SC bench held Govindachamy guilty of rape and sentenced him to 7 years of rigorous imprisonment.
