Kochi: The prime accused in the Jisha murder case, Ameer ul-Islam, has been taken back to Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu from where he was arrested. Ameer had gone to work in a car factory in Kanchipuram after allegedly killing the dalit law student at her house in Perumbavoor

The investigation team left for Kanchipuram to collect evidence at 4.00 am on Wednesday. The team will also take him to those places where he had stayed, while in hiding.

The police team on Tuesday collected evidence from Jisha's house and vicinity in Perumbavoor. The police is said to have found the murder weapon. The probe team suspect that Ameer committed the crime using this big knife, which was recovered from a deserted yard in the neighborhood.

Meanwhile, Jisha's mother Rajeshwari and sister Deepa stated that they had no prior acquaintance with Ameer and that that they did not recognize him. With this, the previous statement of the accused—that he was slapped by Jisha's mother for peeping into the bathing ghat—stands debunked.

Ameer was also taken to the bathing ghat as part of collecting evidence.
