'Captain' made me understand the pain that footballers go through: Jayasurya In 'Captain', Jayasurya enacted a real life hero he knew little about - one idolized by hundreds of thousands of people.

While the whole world is eagerly waiting for the FIFA World Cup kick-off, Malayalam actor Jayasurya is busy with the promotional works of his upcoming movie 'Njan Marykutty'.

Jayasurya, who played the role of former Indian footballer V P Sathyan in his recent movie 'Captain', says that he understands what the players go through.

“When I was shooting for 'Captain', I had practice sessions. For three months I trained myself by playing and getting to know more about the game,” he said.

“I am not the right person to talk about football. It's only after doing 'Captain', that I realized the strain that each players go through in one-and-a-half hours.”

Ask him for his favourite team and he quips, “I have no relation with football. Even during my childhood days I have never played and still I don't really get time to follow the matches.”

“When I wanted a reference for V P Sathyan, I couldn't even find a video clipping. I feel Indian footballers in those days didn't have much exposure but now that's not the case. We have amazing fans in our state itself,” he said.
