Kochi: A star-lit function at Avenue Center in Kochi Wednesday evening saw the audio launch of megastar Mammootty’s latest Malayalam movie Thoppil Joppan, directed by Johny Antony.

Actor Jayaram handed over a large replica of an audio CD of the movie to director Major Ravi, in Mammootty's presence.

“I really pray to God that this movie be a successful one”, Major Ravi said and wished the team success.

Mammootty began his speech by paying tribute to brave soldiers who lost their lives in the recent Uri attack, and requested those who were present at the event to pray in silence for a couple of moments.

Thoppil Joppan will have all elements to suit all types of audience. Do not panic seeing the tag line which says 50 percent alcohol and 50 percent love! I promise that this movie will entertain you. It will be a movie with good songs as well,” Mammootty said.

Actor Jayram showered praise on the megastar and said that Mammootty betters his record on Internet with his films.

“The first teaser of Thoppil Joppan added to its credit a whopping number of 'likes' in just a few hours, beating the record of his previous flick Kasaba,” Jayaram said.

At the audio release, the witty Jayaram, who is the captain of Amma Kerala Royals in the Celebrity Badminton League (CBL), made sure that Mammootty would be present for the Kochi leg of the tournament.

Narrating an old story at the event, Jayaram said, “Some years back, I wanted to secure an admission for my son Kalidas at Loyola College in Chennai. I was desperately searching for a way to grab a seat and luckily, I was invited to the college for their Onam celebration. Then and there, at the venue, I made sure that the principal promised me that my son would be granted admission the very next year!”

Jayaram continued, “So Mammukka, will you please come for our Celebrity Badminton League?”. Amid the cheering crowd, Mammootty had no other choice, but to smile and agree.

The music of Thoppil Joppan is composed by Vidyasagar, who is working for a Mammootty-starrer for the 13th time in his career.

Lyrics are written by Rafeeq Ahammed and Vayalar Sarath Chandra Varma.

Singer Madhu Balakrishnan, actors Badusha, Kalabhavan Navas, Sadiq, Suresh Krishna, Sudheer Sukumaran, Mohan Jose and Reshmi Boban were also present at the event among several others.

Written by Nishad Koya, Thoppil Joppan is the fourth release of Mammootty this year after Puthiya Niyamam, Kasaba and White. This is also his fourth project with director Johny Antony after Thuruppugulan, Ee Pattanathil Bhootham and Thappana.

Thoppil Joppan will hit the screens on 7 October, and will fight in the box office with superstar Mohanlal's big budget action thriller Pulimurugan, which is expected to hit more than 3,000 screens worldwide on the same day.
