Kochi: While Radhika Thilak was in eternal sleep, people thronged to her flat at Panampilly Nagar in Kochi to have a last glimpse of the artist. They stood in silence to pay their respects to the departed singer who had made many songs immortal.

Singer Sujatha, who is a relative of Radhika, could not control her sorrow.

The body was taken to the ground floor after her husband Suresh Krishna, daughter Devika and others paid their last respects.

Radhika's body was taken to Ravipuram crematorium by about 5.15 pm and the final rites were performed by Rahul Satheesh, the son of Suresh's brother.

Earlier, actors Mammootty and Siddique, Ministers K.C. Joseph, K. Babu and others paid their last respects to Radhika.

She succumbed to cancer at a private hospital in Kochi on Sunday. Singers Sujatha and Venugopal are Radhika's relatives.

The singer has more than 70 Malayalam film songs songs to her credit.

Her famous songs include Arunakirana deepam and Deva sangeetham (Guru), Maya manchalil (Ottayal Pattalam), Kaithapoo manam (Sneham), Thiruvathira thira nokkiya (Kanmadam), Ente ulludukkum kotti and Ninte kannil (Deepasthambham Mahascharyam).

Apart from film songs, Radhika has sung several devotional songs. The singer, who was with All India Radio and Doordarshan, entered the filmdom through light music. She has also anchored several TV shows.
