For Rani life isn’t as sweet as her late husband Johnson's songs

Music composer Johnson has amazed the Malayali music lovers with his soulful melodies and refreshing tunes. He was lovingly called Johnson master by millions of people who admired his music.

However, the story of Johnson’s family wasn’t as melodious as the tunes that the legendary musician had created. Keralites viewed his family with a stupefied agony when fate had struck them really hard. Johnson master was someone who was bold enough to stand up to anyone. However, at home, he was a beloved father and a loving husband who held his wife Rani close to his heart and sang his latest songs to her. Rani accompanied him wherever he went. She truly reigned as the ‘queen’ of the talented composer’s heart.

After Joshnson master’s sudden demise, Rani lived for her two children. However, fate wasn’t too merciful to her. The unexpected deaths of her son and then her daughter had left this mother all alone in this world. Rani opens up, in an interview, to Manorama News about her family and her painful experiences.

For Rani life isn’t as sweet as her late husband Johnson's songs

Johnson, the loving husband

Rani recalls that she was surprised when Johnson offered to drop their son Ren at the bus stop, one morning. Ren usually goes in the vehicle allotted from his company. However, that day, Johnson insisted that he dropped his son at the bus stop. When he returned, the musician complained to Rani that he had severe head ache. “I applied balm on his forehead. Then he told me he couldn’t breathe. I was scared and got up to run downstairs to get help. However, he asked me to sit with him and didn’t let me go. Later, he was really struggling to breathe. By the time I called an ambulance and took him to the hospital, he was already gone,” Rani recalled the last moments of Johnson master. However, Rani had no idea then that it was the beginning of a cruel fate that awaited her.

Ren, the beloved son

“He was obsessed with bikes. He used to tell me, ‘I wouldn’t go for any jobs after completing the studies. I want to go for bike racing’. He loved bikes so much. But he was extremely close to me and often shared everything with me. That morning too, he had set out to his office on the bike, as usual. He swiftly turned the bike not to hit a woman who jumped across his bike. However, the bike skidded and he was thrown off. The helmet got unbuckled and slipped off his head. His head hit really hard. It was his friends who called me and informed about the accident. But when I reached the hospital, he too had left me,” said Rani.

The untimely demise of Ren, not too long after Johnson’s death, had shocked Rani. After burying him in the family tomb, many told Rani that Johnson’s coffin hadn’t yet decayed. The son was laid to rest on his dear father’s bosom. “Within that short span of time, I had enjoyed such love from him, that a son could’ve given his mother in a lifetime,” revealed Rani.

Shaan, the caring daughter

Daughter Shaan was everything for Rani after the demise of her husband and son. She often comforted her mother by saying that she would give her the love that would’ve given by Johnson and Ren as well. “Her marriage was my biggest dream. Everything was already decided. As usual, she wished me good night that night as well, before going to sleep. I got a phone call after I returned from the church next morning. It was the boy who was engaged to marry her. He told me she wasn’t picking up her phone. She didn’t pick up when I too had called after that. The doctors told that she suffered a cardiac arrest. She was with me for four years after both of them had gone,” explained Rani.

Rani emphatically says that she has no complaints with God despite what had happened in her life. She is thankful that the Lord Almighty made her the wife of such a great individual and the mother to his two kids. “I have obviously felt sadness and grief. But now I am sure that God is with me. It is better to rely on God than to depend on man; this quote from the Bible is what leads me forward,” concludes Rani.
