With his three recent movies running successfully in theatres, actor Balu Varghese is on cloud nine. While he plays the character of a hotel attender called Jinesh in Madhupal's 'Oru Kuprasiddha Payyan,' Balu unleashes a natural performance as an ordinary Thiruvananthapuram youth in Duglas Alfred's 'Vallikkudilile Vellakkaran.' As Arungeorge K David's 'Ladoo' hit the theatres on November 16, Friday, Balu is now a busy man in Mollywood.

The 'Ladoo' experience

Balu plays a character called Rahul in 'Ladoo.' He is one of the four crazy friends of the protagonist Vinu (Vinay Forrt). “Rahul is a normal Thrissur youth who has an interesting accent and often speaks sarcastically. Rahul often demolishes all the bragging made by his friend SK (Shabareesh Varma) on the spot. Both make an awesome comic combination in this movie,” Balu said.

Balu made his acting debut in Lal Jose's 2005 film 'Chandupottu' as a child actor.

Though Vinu is the protagonist in this movie, the plot revolves around the troubles brought about by SK who is an outright braggart and a big fan of Telugu superstar Allu Arjun. The movie progresses as SK's friends settles the troubles invited by SK's craziness one by one. Vinu's marriage is just one among the many troubles SK gave rise to, Balu explained.

Bobby Simha plays the antagonist in the movie, which also features Gayathri Ashok, Saju Navodaya (Pashanam Shaji) and Guinness Manoj in significant roles.

Balu Varghese has so far appeared in more than 25 movies including 'Chunkz' in which he played the protagonist role.

Varied roles

Balu noted that he is happy about his present status in the industry as his career dreams are slowly coming true. “I get to do characters quite different from one another – characters that deserve effortful performance. For instance, my character in 'Oru Kuprasidha Payyan' required a level of emotional demonstration. Rahul, on the other hand, is an easy-go-lucky youngster who flirts with random girls and trolls his friend whenever possible. I feel satisfied to perform such distinctive roles, he said.

Wait over

'Ladoo' reached the theaters this Friday after a wait for over a year. It has got a row of fresh faces before and behind the camera, including cameraman Goutham, screen-writer Sagar and female lead Gayathri Ashok.

Balu noted that the movie gains from the fresh faces. “New artistes ooze immense enthusiasm and energy. They are ready for any number of trial and error attempts which helps the final product in many ways. Moreover, director Arungeorge is an experienced hand in short-film making. He knows how to deliver a story in the most compact and appealing manner,” he said.
